Both issues are caused by user problems not the design of the pack. love this backpack - has a ton of easily manageable storage and is easy to carry. Highly recommend - I just took it on an 8 day trip to Alaska and my daughter used hers for a 2 week/5 country trip around overseas. Drawbacks - if filled to capacity it will not fit in overhead bins of any airline's small planes so pack accordingly. Also if stuffed take zip ties to hold the zippers together when running thru airports.

Downside would be the pockets on the outside. I like the color, nice mellow pink and grey combination. They are too narrow for my water bottle and too deep for my phone or keys.
