We have not tried it in the rain --so only reason I did not rate anything there --but it appears it would protect it more than most--but again--can say for sure as we have not used in rain. I actually bought this for work -since working at home more due to pandemic. It is very reasonably priced too--agree with other reviewer that you could pay alot more and get less. However, it actually was too big for me and not good for carrying paperwork. I really need more of a brief case. However, my husband loved it so much --I did not return and he loves it. I would love this when I do travel or for overnight/weekend trips. He ended up trading me for his computer case which worked better for what I needed. It has so much room for traveling and it seems well built. Not sure we would use the cell phone charger feature as we are not ones to live by our phones, but nice to have.
